a
special
ceremony
tomorrow,
August
2,
2014,
in
Columbia
to
honor
South
Carolina’s
Vietnam
War
era
veterans
for
their
service
to
our
country.
During
the
10:00am
ceremony
at
the
First
Baptist
Church
of
Columbia
(1306
Hampton
Street,
Columbia,
SC),
Medal
of
Honor
recipient
Major
General
James
Everett
Livingston,
USMC
(Ret.)
will
deliver
the
keynote
address,
military
bands
from
around
South
Carolina
will
perform
and
military
artifacts
and
memorabilia
from
the
era
will
be
on
display.
Senator
Scott
will
also
give
each
veteran
a
special
Senatorial
Certificate
of
Appreciation
and
a
pin.
“The
Vietnam
War
era
was
one
of
the
most
challenging
in
our
nation’s
history,
and
it
is
truly
my
honor
to
host
these
brave
men
and
women
who
fought
for
freedom
this
year.
Their
sacrifices,
as
well
as
those
made
by
their
families,
will
never
be
forgotten,”
Senator
Scott
said.
“I’m
proud
to
host
our
veterans
and
their
families
August
2,
2014
in
Columbia
to
publicly
honor
them
for
their
commitment
to
our
nation.”
Veterans
who
have
not
yet
registered
are
still
encouraged
to
attend,
and
they
will
be
able
to
register
on
site
to
receive
their
certificate
and
pin
in
the
mail
following
the
event.

Senator
Scott
has
hosted
honor
ceremonies
for
South
Carolina’s
veterans
since
being
elected
to
federal
office.
In
2012, World
War
Two
veterans
were
honored,
and
last
year
two
ceremonies
were
held
celebrating
our Korean
War
era
veterans.
