MEDIA ADVISORY: Sens. Scott, Murkowski to Unveil White Paper on Energy Insecurity in America at National Press Club Event

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Sens. Tim Scott (R-SC) and Lisa Murkowski (R-AK), on Thursday, Sept. 18, will unveil a white paper at The National Press Club documenting the potential impacts of rising energy costs on the budgets of American families.

The Murkowski-Scott white paper – Plenty at Stake: Indicators of American Energy Insecurity – will provide policymakers with valuable ways to measure the economic effects of legislation, regulation, or other factors that increase the cost of home energy.

Scott and Murkowski will talk about the economic, political, and social consequences of allowing energy insecurity to rise in America. The discussion will be hosted and moderated by Mark Mills, senior fellow at the Manhattan Institute, which is organizing the event. Audience members will have an opportunity to ask questions of the senators during a Q&A session.

The Murkowski-Scott energy insecurity paper builds on the Energy 20/20 blueprint Murkowski released last year. The paper will be available on the energy committee’s website Thursday at 8:30 a.m.
