U.S. Senator Tim Scott Hosts Service Academy Informational Sessions Throughout South Carolina For Interested High School Students
Kicks off Series Today in Spartanburg, Beaufort and Orangeburg Counties

Columbia, SC– Beginning today in Spartanburg, Beaufort and Orangeburg counties, the Office of U.S. Senator Tim Scott (R-SC) will host a series of informational sessions and office hours throughout South Carolina for high school students interested in attending one of the five service academies – U.S. Military Academy, U.S. Naval Academy, U.S. Air Force Academy, U.S. Merchant Marine Academy or U.S. Coast Guard Academy.  These sessions will allow students and their families to learn about the overall nomination and application process and ask questions about attending a service academy.  Earlier this year, Senator Scott nominated 59 students from across South Carolina to be considered for an appointment to one of the five service academies.

“Our nation’s five service academies continue to produce some of America’s best and brightest service men and women,” said Senator Scott. “I encourage any South Carolinian interested in serving their country, receiving a quality college education and developing their leadership skills to attend one of the workshops or office hours my staff is hosting to learn more about our nation’s service academies and the application process.”

Students interested in being considered for a nomination by Senator Scott must submit an application, SAT/ACT scores, high school transcripts, and three letters of recommendation by October 31, 2014.
