Senator
Scott:
American
Workers
Can’t
Afford
to
be
Ambushed | Charleston,
SC
- U.S.
Senator
Tim
Scott
(R-SC),
a
member
of
the
Senate
labor
committee,
issued
the
following
statement
denouncing
the
President’s
veto
of
the joint
resolution
to
stop
the
National
Labor
Relations
Board
(NLRB)
from
implementing
its
‘ambush
election’
rule: “Today’s
veto
by
the
President
is
yet
another
example
of
how
he’s
trying
to
radically
transform
the
NLRB
from
a
neutral
arbiter
for
employees
and
employers
into
perhaps
the
most
hyper-partisan,
pro-Big
Labor
arm
of
his
Administration,”
said
Scott,
a
member
of
the
Senate
Labor
Committee.
“When
Congress,
in
a
very
rare
step,
invoked
the
Congressional
Review
Act
to
prevent
the
NLRB
from
implementing
their
‘ambush
election’
rule,
we
did
it
because
we
know
that
this
ill-conceived
rule
will
hurt
the
ability
of
employees
to
make
a
well-informed
choice
on
joining
a
union,
while
giving
an
unfair
advantage
to
labor
bosses. It’s
time
for
the
Administration
to
listen
to
the
American
people
and
stop
placing
burdensome
requirements
on
employers
that
unions
do
not
themselves
have
to
comply
with.
American
workers
can’t
afford
the
‘ambush
election’
rule
being
pushed
by
Big
Labor
and
this
hyper-partisan
Administration.” Senator
Scott
has
long
been
a
leader
in
calling
for
NLRB
reforms.
During
a
July
2013
hearing
where
he
questioned
President
Obama's
NLRB
nominees,
he
highlighted
the
challenges
the
NLRB
faces
due
to
its
activist
board.
