commitment

fostering

discussion
on
body-worn
cameras
for
law
enforcement
officers,
U.S.
Senator
Tim
Scott
(R-SC)
will
testify
tomorrow
before
the
Senate
Judiciary
Subcommittee
on
Crime
and
Terrorism’s
hearing
entitled “Body
Cameras:
Can
Technology
Increase
Protection
for
Law
Enforcement
Officers
and
the
Public?”
on
Capitol
Hill.
During
his
testimony,
he
will
discuss
his
belief
that
the
deployment
of
body-worn
cameras
can
be
one
of
the
ways
to
collaboratively
continue
to
rebuild
and
restore
trust
between
law
enforcement
and
the
communities
they
serve
and
protect
both
law
enforcement
officers
and
citizens.
Tomorrow’s
hearing
is
a
result
of
Senator
Scott’s April
22
request
to
Senate
Judiciary
Chairman
Charles
Grassley
(R-IA)
and
Crime
and
Terrorism
Subcommittee
Chairman
Lindsey
Graham
(R-SC)
to
hold
a
hearing
on
this
important
public
safety
issue.
In
the
lead
up
to
the
hearing,
Senator
Scott
has
met
with
a
diverse
group
of
stakeholders
both
in
South
Carolina
and
Washington,
DC,
including
law
enforcement
officers,
elected
officials,
civil
rights
groups,
civil
liberty
organizations
and
faith-based
leaders
to
ensure
all
voices
are
heard
on
this
important
public
safety
issue.
