Todays

the
U.S.
Army

underscores
the
importance
of
moving
forward
to
deepen
the
Charleston
Harbor.
This
project
will
ensure
that
our
region
remains
one
of
the
most
competitive
ports
on
the
East
Coast
as
the
Panama
Canal
is
expanded.
South
Carolina
has
become
the
epicenter
of
our
nations
manufacturing
renaissance,
and
a
deeper
port
in
Charleston
will
provide
our
region
with
even
strong
economic
benefits
for
the
entire
Southeast. I
will
continue
working to
ensure
this
critical
harbor
modernization
is
completed.
