Iran Deal
On Wednesday I joined FOX News to discuss the #IranDeal.

Frankly, it’s hard to make a good deal with bad actors, and I am afraid that the President’s desperate attempts to enhance his legacy are leading us down a dangerous path. Sanctions relief, arms relief – these are not steps to be taken unless we are absolutely certain Iran’s nuclear program is dismantled, and that simply does not appear to be the case.

I will continue to review the terms of the deal, but from what we have seen so far it does not seem to be one I can support. Let us not forget that this is a regime holding four Americans indefinitely without reason, and these negotiations did nothing to change that.

Every Child Achieves Act
This week the Senate voted for the passage of the Every Child Achieves Act (ECAA). I offered an amendment to the bill that would’ve increased opportunities for low-income families and their children to have more choices when selecting their learning environments.

The Every Child Achieves Act takes some important steps towards improving our nation’s K-12 education system by returning decision making to the states and simplifying some testing measures. Unfortunately, I believe the bill did not go far enough in these aspects, and I simply could not support its passage. Too many of our nation’s children today do not have access to a quality education, and I believe that, among other factors, school choice is a critical step towards providing that opportunity.

Education is a building block of my Opportunity Agenda, and I will continue working on the Senate Education Committee to give parents more options in determining the best educational path for their children. When parents have a choice, kids have a better chance.

Praying for Chattanooga
My thoughts and prayers are with the families of the four U.S. Marines who lost their lives in Chattanooga, Tennessee yesterday. Our Marines are important to us and will always be in our hearts.  As our nation mourns, please join me in praying for their loved ones who were deeply hurt by this tragedy.

Thanks again for subscribing!

God bless,

Tim
