Defunding
Planned
Parenthood
This
week
I
joined
Senator
Joni
Ernst,
Senator
James
Lankford,
and
Senator
Rand
Paul
to
introduce
legislation
that
the
Senate
will
vote
on
before
the
end
of
next
week
to
defund
Planned
Parenthood.
All
life
is
precious,
and
to
see
it
treated
so
callously
by
Planned
Parenthood
should
make
every
American's
heart
ache.
The
first
Senate
procedural
vote
on
S.
1881
to
defund
Planned
Parenthood
is
scheduled
for
5:30
pm
on
Monday.
The
Safer
Officers
and
Safer
Citizens
Act
This
week
I
introduced
my
Safer
Officers
and
Safer
Citizens
Act,
and
yesterday
I
spoke
on
the
Senate
floor
about
it.
This
legislation
would
provide
resources
to
state
and
local
police
for
the
purchase
and
initial
setup
of
body
cameras.
Body
cameras
can
help
keep
both
officers
and
citizens
safer,
with
studies
showing
complaints
against
officers
decreasing
by
90
percent
and
use
of
force
by
officers
decreasing
60
percent
when
body
cameras
are
involved.
Local
and
state
police
decisions
should
remain
with
local
and
state
police,
and
my
bill
does
not
change
that.
It
simply
helps
provide
what
I
believe
to
be
an
important
resource,
body
cameras,
to
keep
everyone
safer.

floor
speech

Veterans
Health
Care
Choice
Improvement
Act
Yesterday
I
voted
to
continue
reforms
at
the
U.S.
Department
of
Veterans
Affairs
(VA).
Our
veterans
deserve
the
best
care
possible,
and
I
am
pleased
we
took
another
step
forward
in
reforming
the
VA
and
improving
access
to
care
for
those
who
served
our
nation
so
bravely.
I
will
continue
working
to
keep
our
promises
to
South
Carolinas
veterans
in
Washington.
Protecting
American
Lives
Act
I
support
the
Protecting
American
Lives
Act,
introduced
by
my
friend
Jeff
Sessions,
because
no
more
lives
should
be
lost
due
to
"sanctuary
city"
policies.
The
Protecting
American
Lives
Act
would:
withhold
federal
funding
from
any
state
or
local
jurisdiction
that
refuses
to
cooperate
with
federal
immigration
enforcement
(including
notifying
federal
authorities
about
the
apprehension
of
criminal
aliens,
and
honoring
immigration
detainers);
provide
legal
immunity
to
local
jurisdictions
that
honor
detainers;
establish
a
5-year
mandatory
minimum
sentence
for
the
illegal
re-entry
of
previously
deported
aliens;
and
provide
a
Sense
of
Congress
that
DHS
has
probably
cause
when
it
issues
a
detainer.
Committed
to
Protecting
South
Carolina
Families
Every
day
I
am
committed
to
working
to
unleash
opportunity
for
individuals,
families
and
job
creators
all
throughout
South
Carolina
and
around
the
country.
By
supporting
pro-growth
policies
that
allow
our
economy
to
recover
and
thrive,
while
also
holding
the
line
on
spending
and
growth
on
the
federal
level,
I
believe
we
can
create
a
climate
that
grows
our
economy,
creates
good
paying
jobs
and
strengthens
communities.
I
am
proud
to
accept
both
the
National
Retail
Federation's
(NRF)
Hero
of
Main
Street
honor
and
the
Council
for
Citizens
Against
Government
Waste's
(CCAGW)
Taxpayer
Super
Hero
award
because
I
believe
Washington
needs
to
do
more
to
protect
hardworking
families
and
our
countrys
job
creators.
(CCAGW
Taxpayer
Super
Hero
Award)
(NRFs
Hero
of
Main
Street
Award)
Thanks
again
for
subscribing!
God
bless,

Tim
