Defunding Planned Parenthood
To kick off our last week in Washington before the August work period, the U.S. Senate voted on a measure that would've defunded Planned Parenthood.

With every new video that is released, we see more and more how important it is that Planned Parenthood be defunded. That’s why I helped introduce the important legislation we voted on this week, and why I want to thank so many of my colleagues for their support on this issue.

While we may have been just a few votes short, we will continue our efforts to protect children and ensure that women’s health remains a priority.

EPA Clean Power Plan

On Monday, President Obama’s EPA announced yet another example of the administration’s ongoing effort to create a political legacy for the President instead of working to shore up our country’s economic recovery, defeating ISIS or stopping Iran from becoming a nuclear power. The EPA’s final power plant plan is unattainable, unachievable and unrealistic. That’s why when it was first announced, thirty-two states strongly opposed the rule and fifteen states, including South Carolina, challenged it in court.

While we all agree our energy policy should embrace sustainable, accessible and affordable sources of energy, the EPA has once again forgotten the affordable piece. The fact of the matter is if your income is under $30,000, 25 percent of your income goes towards energy consumption. This is an incredible burden to place on single parents, seniors on fixed incomes and low-income families struggling to make their ends meet. The EPA should be working to help American families, not finalizing rules that drive up the cost of essential services such as electricity.

Banking Committee Hearing on Iran Nuclear Deal & Sanctions Relief
This week I also questioned members of the administration on the #IranDeal and economic sanctions in the Senate Banking Committee. This is a bad deal, plain and simple.

You can watch here.

Thanks again for subscribing!

God bless,

Tim
