Dear
Friends,
We
have
a
big
week
ahead
in
Washington,
with
a
vote
on
the
pro-life
Pain
Capable
Unborn
Child
Protection
Act
tomorrow
and
welcoming
many
South
Carolinians
to
our
nation’s
Capitol
for
the
Pope’s
visit.
Protecting
Life
Tonight
I
will
be
speaking
on
the
Senate
floor
regarding
the
importance
of
the
Pain
Capable
Unborn
Child
Protection
Act,
which
bans
abortions
after
20
weeks,
or
about
5
months.
Earlier
this
year
I
helped
introduce
this
important
legislation,
which
studies
show
could
save
more
than
18,000
lives
in
our
nation.
The
full
Senate
will
vote
on
the
bill
tomorrow,
and
I
am
hopeful
we
can
take
a
meaningful
step
forward
in
our
efforts
to
protect
life.

the
Senate
floor,
where
I
am
planning
to
speak
in
the
second
half
of
the
7
o’clock
hour.

Stopping
Premium
Hikes
I
have
introduced
bipartisan
legislation,
the
PACE
Act,
to
help
protect
small
and
mid-sized
businesses
from
premium
hikes
due
to
the
Affordable
Care
Act.
A
recent
report
projects
that
approximately
two-thirds
of
mid-sized
businesses,
their
employees
and
their
families
could
see
an
average
18
percent
premium
increase
due
to
how
the
Affordable
Care
Act
expands
the
definition
of
the
small
group
market.
As
reported
today,
“Members
of
Congress
from
both
parties,
as
well
as
some
employers,
insurers
and
state
insurance
commissioners,
are
calling
for
changes
in
the
Affordable
Care
Act
to
prevent
premium
increases
that
are
expected
to
affect
workers
at
many
small
and
midsize
companies
next
year.”
I
will
keep
fighting
to
fully
repeal
Obamacare,
and
for
legislation
like
my
PACE
Act
to
protect
the
American
people
from
the
ACA’s
harmful
effects.
Breast
Cancer
Awareness
October
is
National
Breast
Cancer
Awareness
Month,
and
to
help
build
awareness
my
office
is
asking
for
folks
to
share
their
personal
stories
and
pictures.
Building
awareness
across
the
nation
is
step
one
to
beating
this
disease,
and
we
will
be
focusing
throughout
October
on
these
efforts.
If
you
have
a
story
or
picture
to
share,
whether
currently
fighting
the
disease,
a
survivor
or
a
loved
one,
please
email
Awareness@scott.senate.gov.
Thank
You
I
wanted
to
take
this
opportunity
to
say
thank
you
for
all
the
birthday
well
wishes
this
weekend
and
to
my
staff
and
friends
for
putting
together
this
fun
video.
Don’t
forget
to
follow
me
on
Facebook,
Twitter,
Instagram
and
YouTube!
Sincerely,
Tim
