U.S. Senator Tim Scott Announces Service Academy Nomination Information Sessions for Interested Students and Parents

Charleston, SC
- The Office of U.S. Senator Tim Scott (R-SC) will host a series of informational sessions and office hours throughout South Carolina for high school students interested in attending one of the five service academies – U.S. Military Academy, U.S. Naval Academy, U.S. Air Force Academy, U.S. Merchant Marine Academy or U.S. Coast Guard Academy.  These sessions will allow students and their families to learn about the overall nomination and application process and ask questions about attending a service academy.

“Some of our nation’s brightest service men and women have graduated from the five U.S. service academies. Because of them, we have the most capable armed forces in the world, “ said Senator Scott.  “I encourage any South Carolinian interested in serving their country, receiving a quality college education, and developing leadership skills to attend one of the informational sessions my staff is hosting to learn more about the application process and our nation’s service academies.”

Students interested in being considered for a nomination by Senator Scott must submit an application, SAT/ACT scores, 2 essays, high school transcripts, and three letters of recommendation by October 26, 2015.

For more information about the Service Academy nomination process, click HERE or call the Service Academy Coordinator at (803) 771-6112. During the last academic year, Senator Scott nominated 48 students from across South Carolina to be considered for an appointment to one of the five service academies for the class of 2018.
