Proud
to
be
an
American
On
Saturday,
I
hosted
Desert
Shield
and
Desert
Storm
Honor
Ceremonies
in Greenville
and
Charleston.
It
was
a
privilege
to
be
in
the
company
of
such
brave
men
and
women
who
selflessly
put
their
lives
on
the
line
in
service
of
our
country.
It
is
thanks
to
them
that
we
are
able
to
enjoy
freedoms
that
other
countries
only
dream
of.
To
all
veterans
who
have
served,
to
those
currently
serving,
and
to
the
families
of
veterans,
our
nation
is
grateful
for
the
sacrifices
you
have
made
in
keeping
our
country
safe
and
we
thank
you
for
your
service.
God
Bless!

Holding
the
VA
Accountable
Supporting
our
veterans
is
a
top
priority
for
me.
With
two
brothers
having
served,
I
know
well
the
sacrifices
made
by
those
in
uniform
and
their
families.
I've
supported
multiple
bills
to
keep
our
promises
to
our
veterans,
as
well
as
hosting
several
job
fairs
and
workshops
for
those
who
have
served.
I
have
joined
a
few
colleagues
of
mine
in
the
Senate
to
introduce
the
VA
Accountability
Act.
This
important
bill
focuses
on
improving
accountability
at
the
Department
of
Veterans
Affairs
by
allowing
the
VA
Secretary
to
remove
employees
based
on
performance
or
misconduct.
In
order
to
change
the
culture
at
the
VA
for
the
better,
there
must
be
changes
made.
I
will
continue
to
look
for
solutions
to
ensure
our
veterans
are
receiving
the
care
and
support
they
deserve.
Gitmo
Must
Stay
Open
Vice
President
Bidden
recently
said
that
he
believed
that
Gitmo
will
be
closed
before
President
Obama
leaves
office.
I
have
one
word
for
the
Vice
President:
Nope.
This
Administration
continues
to
push
for
the
closure
of
Gitmo
even
though
our
country
is
still
fighting
terrorism.
Releasing
terrorists
will
only
result
in
us
having
more
enemy
combatants
to
fight.
We
have
seen
former
detainees
return
to
the
battle
time
and
time
again,
and
to
believe
that
they
won’t
do
so
is
naive.
Also,
sending
the
detainees
to
domestic
soil
puts
the
churches,
daycares
and
communities
that
surround
the
proposed
sites
at
risk.
I
have
been
to
Gitmo
and
have
seen
first-hand
that
it
is
the
best
place
to
house
the
worst
of
the
worst
criminals.
I
will
fight
to
keep
Gitmo
open.
Sincerely,

Tim
