Charleston,
SC
-
U.S.
Senator
Tim
Scott
(R-SC)
released
the
following
statement
on
the
15th
anniversary
of
the
September
11th
terrorist
attacks:
"Fifteen
years
ago
today,
the
course
of
America
was
changed
forever.
So
many
of
us
remember
exactly
what
we
were
doing,
and
exactly
where
we
were.
We
hung
on
every
word
on
the
news,
every
image
we
saw,
and
we
prayed
and
hoped
that
it
was just a
terrible
nightmare.
Nearly
3,000
Americans
perished
on
9/11,
thousands
mourned
the
loss
of
a
loved
one
who
would
never
return
home,
and
we
were
all
in
shock
and
disbelief
at
the
tragic
loss
of
life.
We
cannot
change
history,
but
we
can
keep
each
of
their
memories
alive
every
day.
Thank
you
to
the
first
responders
for
their
courage
and
heroism.
I
also
want
to
thank
the
brave
men
and
women
of
our
Armed
Forces,
who
since
9/11
have
sacrificed
so
much
in
defense
of
freedom
and
security.
They
are
truly
amazing,
and
we
can
never
thank
them
enough. We
will
continue
to
stand
strong
against
those
who
do
us
harm and those
who
perpetrated
these
terrible
attacks,
and
for
a
more
peaceful,
unified
world."
