Fellowship
of
Christian
Athletes
Last
week,
I
had
the
honor
of
delivering
the
keynote
address
at
the
Fellowship
of
Christian
Athletes
Banquet
in
Columbia.
I
had
a
great
time
speaking
to
so
many
followers
of
Christ
and
their
families.
It
was
truly
an
amazing
experience
to
be
in
a
room
full
of
faithful
and
talented
people.
Visit
to
USC
I
also
had
a
great
time
visiting
some
intelligent
students
at
the
University
of
South
Carolina.
It
was
a
great
opportunity
to
speak
with
them
and
answer
their
questions.
I
am
confident
that
they
have
the
potential
to
become
our
future
leaders!

HUD
Inspection
Process
My
colleague
Senator
Richard
Shelby,
chairman
of
the
Committee
on
Banking,
Housing,
and
Urban
Affairs,
and
I
wrote
a
letter
to
Housing
Secretary
Julian
Castro,
requesting
answers
for
the
appalling
conditions
at
some
federally
funded
public
housing
across
the
country.
We
have
some
serious
concerns
that
Secretary
Castro
has
failed
to
fulfill
his
legal
obligation
to
ensure
HUD-assisted
housing
is
safe,
sanitary,
and
in
good
repair.
Castro’s
inaction
suggests
serious
negligence
with
respect
to
oversight
of
housing
quality,
to
the
detriment
of
many
families.
In
September,
I chaired
a
Senate
Banking
Subcommittee
on
Housing hearing
on
HUD’s
inspection
process,
in
which
Secretary
Castro
refused
to
attend.
As
chairman
of
the
Banking
Subcommittee
on
Housing,
Transportation,
and
Community
Development,
I
look
forward
to
continue
working
with
Senators
Marco
Rubio
and
Bill
Nelson
to
learn
more
about
the
HUD
inspection
process
and
why
they
continue
to
allow
poor,
uninhabitable
properties
to
receive
passing
scores.
You
can
read
the
full
letter
Chairman
Shelby
and
I
sent
to
Secretary
Castro
here.
Thanks
again
for
subscribing!
Sincerely,

Tim
