Washington,
D.C.
- The
Senate
Committee
on
Small
Business
and
Entrepreneurship
today
honored
Tactical
Medical
Solutions
(TacMed),
a
veteran-owned
enterprise
from
South
Carolina,
as
the
Small
Business
of
the
Day
for
National
Small
Business
Week.
This
business,
which
was
nominated
by
U.S.
Senator
Tim
Scott
(R-SC),
will
be
recognized
in
the
Congressional
Record
of
the
U.S.
Senate.
TacMec,
founded
in
2003
by
Ross
Johnson,
a
former
Army
Special
Forces
medic,
provides
customized
first-aid
kits,
tourniquets,
and
other
emergency
supplies
to
support
first
responders,
military,
and
law
enforcement
agencies.
“As
a
former
small
business
owner,
I
am
committed
to
ensuring
entrepreneurs
have
the
resources
to
succeed
and
grow,” said
Senator
Scott. “In
South
Carolina,
small
businesses
represent
97%
of
all
employers
and
have
had
an
amazing
impact
on
the
economy.
TacMed
is
certainly
a
testament
to
that.
By
serving
our
nation’s
brave
men
and
women
in
uniform,
they
continue
to
grow
and
undergird
the
dynamic
nature
of
our
state’s
economy,
especially
in
the
Upstate.
I
proudly
recognize
their
steady
growth
and
contribution
to
the
Anderson
community
for
National
Small
Business
Week.”
CEO
and
founder
Ross
Johnson
said,
“When
I
started
this
company,
it
was
about
making
sure
as
many
people
made
it
home
as
possible.
Then
the
focus
was
Afghanistan
and
Iraq.
Now
it’s
everywhere:
the
soldier
on
the
battlefield,
the
officer
on
patrol,
the
civilian
caught
in
an
unfortunate
situation.
You’ll
never
hear
us
say
we
save
lives,
because
we
don’t.
We
make
equipment.
Someone
else
is
taking
the
risk
to
save
a
life
and
we
don’t
want
to
take
anything
away
from
what
they
do.
What
we
do
is
make
their
job
easier
by
providing
effective
solutions
engineered
to
work
in
their
environment.”
The
Anderson-based
company
has
grown
to
become
one
of
the
largest
suppliers
of
high-quality
medical
products,
creating
40
jobs
in
the
state
of
South
Carolina.
"Congratulations
to
TacMed
Solutions
for
receiving
this
recognition,"
said
U.S.
Senator
Jim
Risch,
chairman
of
the
Senate
Committee
on
Small
Business
and
Entrepreneurship.
"Our
nation
relies
on
the
28
million
small
business
owners
to
keep
our
economy
moving
forward,
and
I'm
glad
we
can
highlight
their
individual
and
collective
achievements
this
week."
For
over
50
years,
the
President
of
the
United
States
has
issued
a
proclamation
announcing
National
Small
Business
Week,
which
recognizes
the
critical
contributions
of
America’s
entrepreneurs
and
small
business
owners.
As
part
of
National
Small
Business
Week,
the
U.S.
Senate
Committee
on
Small
Business
and
Entrepreneurship
takes
the
opportunity
to
highlight
the
impact
of
outstanding
entrepreneurs,
small
business
owners,
and
others
from
all
50
states
and
U.S.
territories. As
chairman,
Risch
honors
America’s
small
businesses
and
entrepreneurs
in
the
Senate
regularly.
