Charleston,
SC
U.S.
Senator
Tim
Scott
(R-SC)
released
the
following
statement
on
the
2nd anniversary
of
the
tragic
shooting
at
Mother
Emanuel
AME
Church
in
Charleston:
“Two
years
ago,
on
June
17th 2015,
we
experienced
one
of
the
greatest
atrocities
South
Carolina
has
ever
known.
Our
city
and
our
state
were
left
shaken
and
heartbroken.
The
horrific
actions
of
a
man
filled
with
hate
took
the
lives
of
nine
parishioners.
However,
in
the
face
of
evil,
nine
families
and
the
congregation
at
Mother
Emanuel
taught
us
the
power
of
love
and
forgiveness.
We
must
honor
the
memory
of
the
Emanuel
9
by
working
to
come
together,
and
ensure
that
hate
does
not
win.
Their
families
showed
us
how
much
better
we
are
united,
and
we
all
need
to
take
that
to
heart.“
