morning,
U.S.
Senator
Tim
Scott
(R-SC)
testified
in
front
of
the
U.S.
House
Committee
on
Oversight
and
Government
Reform’s
hearing
on
“Criminal
Justice
Reform
and
Efforts
to
Reduce
Recidivism.”
The
purpose
of
the
hearing
was
to
examine
programs
and
legislation
aimed
at
rehabilitating
offenders,
facilitating
a
successful
transition
from
prison
to
community,
and
reducing
recidivism.
Scott
testified
on
the
first
panel
with
Democratic
Senator
Cory
Booker.
During
his
testimony,
Senator
Scott
discussed
reducing
recidivism
by
ensuring
all
Americans
have
access
to
opportunity
and
how
incarceration
affects
low-income
communities.
He
also
spoke
on
his
efforts
to
find
solutions
by
partnering
with
organizations
and
visiting
correctional
facilities
in
South
Carolina.
