honored
by
the
Faith
&
Politics
Institute
(FPI)
with
the
Lewis-Houghton
Congressional
Leadership
Award
tomorrow
morning
at
8:30
a.m.
in
the
Members
Reading
Room
of
the
Library
of
Congress.
The
namesakes
of
the
award
are
U.S.
Representative
John
Lewis
(D-GA)
and
former
U.S.
Representative
Amo
Houghton
(R-NY).
Lewis
will
present
the
award
to
Senator
Scott
in
recognition
of
his
exhibited
qualities
of
conscience,
courage,
and
compassion
as
leaders
and
public
servants.
Each
honoree
has
demonstrated
integrity
between
their
spiritual
values
and
their
actions
and
long-term
commitment
to
leadership
in
service
of
the
common
good.
For
instance,
in
2016,
Senator
Scott
led
a
bipartisan
congressional
delegation,
along
with
Rep.
James
E.
Clyburn,
on
a
civil
rights
pilgrimage
to
South
Carolina.
