Senator Scott to Share How Faith & Spirituality Influence His Public Service at Awards Ceremony Tomorrow

The Faith & Politics Institute to Honor Senator Tim Scott, along with Senator Tim Kaine, with 2017 Lewis - Houghton Leadership Award for Conscience, Courage and Compassion

WASHINGTON –
U.S. Senator Tim Scott (R-SC) will be honored by the Faith & Politics Institute (FPI) with the Lewis-Houghton Congressional Leadership Award tomorrow morning at 8:30 a.m. in the Members Reading Room of the Library of Congress. The namesakes of the award are U.S. Representative John Lewis (D-GA) and former U.S. Representative Amo Houghton (R-NY). Lewis will present the award to Senator Scott in recognition of his exhibited qualities of conscience, courage, and compassion as leaders and public servants.

Each honoree has demonstrated integrity between their spiritual values and their actions and long-term commitment to leadership in service of the common good. For instance, in 2016, Senator Scott led a bipartisan congressional delegation, along with Rep. James E. Clyburn, on a civil rights pilgrimage to South Carolina.

The event will be streamed live here.
