Washington
U.S.
Senator
Tim
Scott
(R-SC)
released
the
following
statement
after
supporting
a
$15.25
billion
aid
package
in
response
to
Hurricane
Harvey:
“To
say
the
damage
done
by
Hurricane
Harvey
was
detrimental
would
be
an
understatement.
This
disaster
affected
thousands
of
families;
there
were
so
many
folks
who
lost
everything,
and
as
they
begin
to
recover
and
rebuild,
our
priority
should
be
to
support
them
as
they
get
back
on
their
feet,”
Scott
said.
“However,
with
our
nation’s
ongoing
budget
crisis,
raising
the
debt
ceiling
is
far
from
ideal.
We
need
to
get
serious
about
curbing
our
spending
addiction,
and
get
back
on
the
right
track
toward
fiscal
responsibility.”
