Washington
-
This
afternoon,
U.S.
Senator
Tim
Scott
(R-SC)
hosted
a
meeting
and
press
conference
with
Senator
Marco
Rubio
(R-FL),
Senator
Shelley
Moore
Capito
(R-WV),
Senator
Dean
Heller
(R-NV),
Senator
Mike
Lee
(R-UT)
Rep.
Kristi
Noem
(R-SD),
Rep.
Claudia
Tenney
(R-NY),
Rep.
Martha
Roby
(R-AL),
and
Rep.
Kevin
Yoder
(R-KS)
in
support
of
increasing
the
Child
Tax
Credit.
Scott,
a
leading
voice
on
tax
reform
in
the
Senate
and
member
of
the
Senate
Finance
Committee,
said:
“Thinking
about
single
mothers,
just
like
mine,
in
South
Carolina,
I
spoke
with
one
right
before
we
held
our
first
press
conference
on
tax
reform.
She
is
a
young
lady
named
Sherry,
in
her
mid
30s,
with
two
sons,
and
starting
a
new
business
applying
all
of
her
savings
into
the
hope
of
achieving
the
American
Dream
beyond
homeownership,
but
also
business
ownership.
I
can
only
imagine
the
power
and
the
importance
of
the
child
tax
credit
being
expanded
beyond
the
$1,000
level,
and
moving
closer
and
closer
to
the
$2,000.
What
that
means
for
her,
her
family,
and
the
prospects
of
her
business
success.”
