Spartanburg Visit with Sec. Ben Carson

Yesterday, I welcomed U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development Secretary Ben Carson to Spartanburg, S.C. to meet with local community leaders. This was a wonderful opportunity to discuss the value of public-private partnerships in distressed areas. Our trip included stops at the Cleveland Academy at Northside, the Brawley Street Model Block, the Harvest Park Urban Farm and Monarch Café, Drayton Mills, and the Meeting Street Academy. House Tax Reform Proposal

Last Thursday, the House Ways and Means Committee put forward their Tax Reform proposal in another important step towards making the economy boom again for the American people. As we move closer to passing comprehensive tax reform, I will remain focused on ensuring more families, grandparents, single moms, and young entrepreneurs can bring more of their hard-earned money home. We will continue our work in the Senate to produce a tax reform bill that increases the paychecks of hardworking Americans and helps create the jobs of the future right here in our amazing country. Sutherland Springs Tragedy

I am deeply saddened by the horrific and senseless massacre that occurred in Texas this weekend. My thoughts and prayers remain with all those affected, as the nation stands united with them in this devastating time.
