Ivanka Trump “Women in Leadership” Event

On Friday, I was happy to welcome Advisor to the President, Ivanka Trump, to Greenville as part of my “Women in Leadership” series. It was a great opportunity to speak with local women about the recent tax reform and doubled child tax credit, and all of the positive effects that have already come about because of them- including millions of Americans receiving bonuses, increased benefits and salary increases.

National School Choice Week

Last week, I introduced a resolution declaring National School Choice Week. As a longtime supporter of school choice and member of the Senate Education committee, I was proud to celebrate this week as the resolution passed!

No matter where a child lives, the end goal remains the same: to equip our students with a quality education that propels them to a better future. As a kid who went to four different schools before the fifth grade, I know the difference a stable learning environment can make in a child’s life. That is why I have been such a strong proponent of school choice, and was so proud to introduce this year’s resolution declaring National School Choice Week. I know the incredible results that can occur when we empower our families and children with the ability to choose the type of school that best fits their individual needs and learning styles.

Education is a bedrock for success, and we should look to strengthen that foundation by expanding the choices our families have at their disposal. This week let us celebrate every type of K-12 school – public, private, charter school, homeschool, and online – that helps prepare our next generation for college, the workforce, and the amazing opportunities that lie ahead.

Senate Armed Services Committee

Last Thursday, I had the opportunity to question Henry Kissinger and George Shultz in the Senate Armed Services Committee regarding our global challenges and national security strategy. You can watch the full video here.

Sincerely,

Tim
