Fix
NICS
Act
Back
in
November,
I
helped
introduce
the
bipartisan
Fix
NICS
Act,
which
would
improve
and
enforce
records
reporting
by
federal
agencies
and
states,
making
sure
they
comply
with
already
existing
laws
to
accurately
report
relevant
criminal
history
records
to
the
National
Instant
Criminal
Background
Check
System
(NICS).
The
bill
also
penalizes
federal
agencies
who
fail
to
properly
report
relevant
records
and
incentivizes
states
to
improve
their
overall
reporting.
All
too
often
we
come
to
the
conclusion
that
horrible
situations
could
have
been
prevented
with
thorough
and
complete
reporting.
While
we
cannot
legislate
against
pure
evil,
we
most
certainly
should
do
all
we
can
to
ensure
these
individuals
do
not
have
access
to
any
type
of
firearm.
This
is
a
commonsense
solution
that
can
fix
the
reporting
gaps,
and
most
importantly,
has
the
potential
to
save
countless
innocent
lives.

SC
Photo
Challenge
I
am
always
looking
for
new
ways
to
showcase
the
beautiful
state
of
South
Carolina
in
my
offices,
and
I
need
your
help.
With
46
counties
stretching
more
than
32,000
square
miles,
South
Carolina
has
so
many
different
and
beautiful
places,
all
of
which
I
wish
to
highlight:
So
last
week,
I
presented
a
photo
challenge
to
the
people
of
South
Carolina!
I
am
asking
for
pictures
of
“your”
South
Carolina,
representing
the
county
you
live
in,
and
I
will
display
4
images
from
each
county
at
each
of
my
offices.
You
can
send
your
submissions
to scott_press@scott.senate.gov.
Around
the
State
Last
Thursday,
I
joined
the
students
of
Wagener-Salley
High
School
in
Aiken
County
for
their
Black
History
Month
program.
It
was
wonderful
to
see
the
students
and
faculty
celebrating
Black
History
Month
through
song,
dance
and
speech-
I
was
happy
to
be
a
part
of
it!
On
Friday,
I
had
the
pleasure
of
hosting
the
Minority
Small
Business
&
Entrepreneurship
Forum
with
the
South
Carolina
African-American
Chamber
of
Commerce
in
North
Charleston.
We
held
some
very
productive
discussions
with
local
business
leaders,
whose
hard
work
truly
makes
a
difference
in
our
great
state.
It
was
special
to
be
back
in
both
Aiken
County,
where
my
mom’s
family
came
from,
and
North
Charleston,
my
hometown,
this
week.
Sincerely,
Tim |
