Washington
-
Today,
U.S.
Senator
Tim
Scott
(R-SC)
met
with
actress
Jennifer
Garner,
Senate
Finance
Committee
Chairman
Orrin
Hatch
and
colleagues
on
the
Senate
Finance
Committee
to
discuss
the
Maternal,
Infant,
and
Early
Childhood
Home
Visiting
(MIECHV)
Program.
In
South
Carolina,
MIECHV
funds
are
used
to
implement
several
home
visiting
models,
including
the
Nurse-Family
Partnership.
"It
was
heartening
to
hear
about
Ms.
Garner's
great
work
in
helping
some
of
our
high
potential
families
and
youth
gain
access
to
resources
they
need
to
ensure
our
children
have
a
brighter
future,"
said
Scott.
"The
path
to
prosperity
is
paved
during
one's
childhood,
and
I
always
enjoy
discussing
initiatives
like
MIECHV
that
help
to
strengthen
the
foundation
of
so
many
of
our
families
in
South
Carolina
and
across
the
country."
Jennifer
Garner
said,
"Thanks
to
members
of
the
Senate
Finance
Committee,
thousands
of
families
across
the
country
will
receive
critical
support
services
through
the
Maternal,
Infant,
Early
Childhood
Home
Visiting
(MIECHV)
program.
Through
my
work
with
Save
the
Children,
I've
seen
how
home
visiting
programs
make
a
huge
difference
in
the
lives
of
many
families
across
the
country.
By
helping
mothers
and
fathers
be
the
best
parents
they
can
be,
we
can
put
more
children
on
a
path
toward
success."

(R-SC)
Senator
Scott
has
long
been
a
champion
of
the
MIECHV
Program,
which
was
designed
to
help
pregnant
women
and
families-particularly
those
considered
at-risk-with
the
resources
and
skills
necessary
to
raise
children
who
are
healthy
and
ready
to
learn.
MIECHV
was
recently
reauthorized
for
5
years
in
the
Bipartisan
Budget
Agreement
of
2018,
which
Senator
Scott
voted
in
support
of
earlier
this
year.
