Opportunity
Zones:
Final
Zones
Certified
Last
week,
the
country’s
final
Opportunity
Zones
were
certified.
Now,
the
Treasury
is
working
on
finalizing
the
rules
to
give
clarity
to
those
looking
to
invest.
The
Opportunity
Zones
program,
part
of
my
Investing
in
Opportunity
Act
which
was
passed
with
the
tax
reform
package,
will
bring
hope
and
prosperity
to
communities
across
the
country
that
are
filled
with
amazing
potential.
You

Carolina
Opportunity
Zones

Immigration
My
statement
on
the
recent
conversation
surrounding
immigration:
I
do
not
support
a
policy
of
categorically
separating
children
from
their
parents
at
the
border.
Without
a
doubt,
we
must
secure
our
border,
eliminate
loopholes
that
encourage
illegal
immigration,
and
resist
attempts
to
return
to
‘catch
and
release’.
The
path
that
led
us
to
this
point
is
a
complicated
one,
with
multiple
laws
and
court
decisions
muddying
the
waters,
and
Congress
needs
to
come
together
to
find
a
path
forward.
We
can
and
must
do
better.
I
support
and
am
an
original
cosponsor
of
the
Keep
Families
Together
and
Enforce
the
Law
Act
by
Senator
Thom
Tillis
and
the
Protect
Kids
and
Parents
Act
by
Senator
Ted
Cruz.
Both
of
these
bills
will
stop
family
separation
while
working
to
secure
our
border.
World
Sickle
Cell
Day
Last
Tuesday,
we
recognized
World
Sickle
Cell
Day.
I’m
thankful
to
have
had
the
opportunity
to
work
on
an
act
that
will
help
us
in
the
effort
to
find
a
cure
for
Sickle
Cell
Disease.
There
are
far
too
few
resources
available
to
those
who
suffer
from
and
are
working
towards
cures
for
SCD.
World
Sickle
Cell
Day
is
an
important
reminder
to
continue
in
the
effort
to
provide
a
cure
for
those
who
bravely
battle
this
disease
every
day.

Alzheimer’s
and
Brain
Awareness
Month
South
Carolina
has
the
highest
death
rate
from
Alzheimer’s
disease
in
the
nation.
To
show
our
support
for
the
fight
against
Alzheimer’s,
my
offices
“went
purple”
on Thursday
to
recognize
Alzheimer’s
&
Brain
Awareness
Month.
This
month
encourages
us
all
to
keep
fighting
to
end
Alzheimer’s.

Before
I
close,
I
would
like
to
ask
you
to
join
me
in
keeping
Katie
Arrington,
her
family,
and
all
those
involved
in
last
weekend’s
car
accident
in
your
prayers.
There
is
no
doubt
she
will
make
a
strong
recovery,
and
I
will
keep
her
and
all
involved
in
my
prayers.
Sincerely,
Tim |
