Women Veterans Event
This morning, I was happy to announce I will be hosting an event to recognize and honor the contributions of South Carolina’s women veterans this upcoming Veterans Day weekend. The event will take place on Saturday, November 10, at the First Baptist Church in Columbia, SC. I look forward to announcing an exciting keynote speaker in the coming weeks, as well as more event details- so keep a look out!
Women veterans make up almost 2 million of our country’s 22 million veterans and that number is expected to grow substantially in the coming years. With South Carolina being home to over 43,000 of those veterans, I wanted to honor the women who have served our country and recognize them specifically this Veteran’s Day weekend. Not only have they served with duty, honor and courage, but they have overcome great obstacles to become some of our country’s finest heroes.
You can read my full announcement here. Veterans and family members interested in attending may register at www.scott.senate.gov/veteransrsvp.
Around the State
Last Thursday, I had the honor of speaking at the Greenville Heroes: Serve and Protect Luncheon where 3 recipients were awarded the “Hero Among Heroes” award. Our police officers and firefighters are always on the front lines protecting our communities, and they deserve our deepest gratitude. It was amazing to hear the stories of each recipient and of many others at the event. Thank you to all of those “heroes” for your service to your community and to your fellow citizens!

Sincerely,
Tim |
