Opportunity Zones
I joined Fox News last week to talk about Opportunity Zones and the exciting developments we are starting to see around the country. A primary goal of mine in serving South Carolina in the U.S. Senate is to help working class people reach their fullest potential. Today, what was once just an idea is now coming to life and impacting millions of people across our nation. You can watch my interview here.

Also, earlier last week, I had the chance to meet with Scott Turner, the new Executive Director of the White House Opportunity and Revitalization Council. He assured me that they will be working hard to see that the Opportunity Zones initiative truly brings life and investment into communities that have been overlooked for far too long. I want to thank President Trump and everyone in his administration for their tireless work on this, and look forward to the results that are to come. 

Remembering Sen. Fritz Hollings
I was saddened to hear the news that Former South Carolina Governor and U.S. Senator Ernest F. "Fritz" Hollings had passed away over the weekend. From his time as a solider in World War Two, to shepherding peaceful desegregation as Governor, or fighting for the American worker in the United States Senate, Fritz Hollings was a statesman who never lost his love for the Lowcountry, for South Carolina, and for his wife—Peatsy. I join the people of South Carolina in praying for the Hollings Family as we celebrate his lifetime of public service.
