Budget Vote

Last Thursday, I voted against a $2.7 trillion budget proposal. While I certainly applaud the authors of this deal for a good faith effort to set government spending for the next two years, unfortunately, the spending levels are far too high. We undoubtedly need to make sure our Armed Forces and veterans are taken care of, but the tens of billions in additional spending demanded by House Democrats outside of those two areas is simply irresponsible.

Letter on Tariffs

Last week, I joined Sens. Portman and Isakson to send a letter to U.S. Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer, urging him to remove proposed tariffs on 96 products because of the harmful impact it will have on U.S. importers, manufacturing, and the economy.  These same tariffs were removed from the list during the last supplemental trade action proposed by the administration. You can read our full letter here.

In the News

Growing up in a single-parent household mired in poverty, interning in DC was simply out of the picture. In fact, my first trip to Washington was when I was elected to the House! I'm proud to work with College to Congress to make these dreams come true for our future public servants! Be sure to check out more from the CBS special here.

Sincerely,
