Dear fellow South Carolinians,
Thank you for subscribing to my weekly e-newsletter, and please remember to follow me on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and YouTube.
New Podcast:
Last week, I released the first episode of my new, bi-monthly podcast titled “Opportunity With Tim Scott.” You can now head to YouTube, Spotify, and Apple Podcasts to hear the first episode in which I discuss the shooting at Mother Emanuel Church and the love and forgiveness that South Carolinians displayed in response.
JUSTICE for All:
Last Wednesday, I introduced my Just and Unifying Solutions to Invigorate Communities Everywhere (JUSTICE) Act to the U.S. Senate, along with Majority Leader McConnell (R-KY) and Senators Capito (R-WV), Cornyn (R-TX), Graham (R-SC), Lankford (R-OK), and Sasse (R-NE).
This bill, which is now cosponsored by 47 U.S. Senators, provides long-term solutions that focus on police reform, accountability, and transparency.
By taking commonsense steps like ending the use of chokeholds, increasing body cameras, and providing additional de-escalation and duty to intervene training, the JUSTICE Act seeks to rebuild lost trust between communities of color and law enforcement.
Explainer Video:
I recently filmed and released a video in which I explain the JUSTICE Act. To take a walk through the contents of the Act, watch the full video provided below.

A Better Future:
For the past five years, since the tragic death of Walter Scott in our home state, I have been trying to pass meaningful police reform legislation. In the wake of recent tragedies – from the killing of George Floyd to the fatal shooting of retired police captain David Dorn – it has become abundantly clear that Congress can no longer wait. In the coming days, I hope that more of my colleagues will join me in providing the American people with solutions now. If we stand together, we can and will create a better future for our nation.
Sincerely,
Tim |
