Dear friend,
Welcome back to my health care newsletter. You can sign up for my weekly updates and other issue-specific newsletters here. Please remember to follow me on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and YouTube for regular updates on how I am serving the people of South Carolina!
COVID-19 Vaccine Availability
In important health care news, last week, South Carolina began offering the COVID-19 vaccine to South Carolinians aged 70 and older. There are currently many vaccine sites across the state, and more are being added every week. The Department of Health and Environmental Control (DHEC) has a helpful online resource where you can check the closest location available for you, or you can call 1-855-472-3432 for assistance in making an appointment. Keep in mind, because of the limited supply, your appointment might not be for a couple of weeks.
Mental Health Resources
I understand that these are challenging times for everyone, and it is important to remember that you are not alone. The South Carolina Department of Mental Health (SCDMH) and the South Carolina Department of Alcohol and Other Drug Abuse Services (DAODAS) have teamed up to offer a safe and convenient service that allows you to anonymously fill out a Self-Check Questionnaire. You will then be connected with a professional counselor who can offer guidance, support, and resources for mental health and addiction services. There are many resources available online for you and your family, and people are standing by, ready and able to help.
These are not emergency response systems or crisis intervention services. If you are in crisis or contemplating suicide, please call the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 1-800-273-TALK (8255) or SCDMH's mobile crisis line at 1-833-364-2274.
My team is here to help you! Please reach out to us and visit my website for more information about small business loans, direct recovery checks, unemployment, rental, or food assistance, and more.
Sincerely,
