Liberty For Child Welfare Providers
At a time when religious liberty is increasingly under attack, I am committed to ensuring all Americans can freely live out their faith. This month, several of my colleagues and I introduced legislation to protect child welfare providers from being discriminated against for acting in accordance with their religious beliefs.
Preventing providers from operating based on their convictions not only flies in the face of religious freedom, but it also disadvantages the hundreds of thousands of children who – through no fault of their own – have nowhere else to go. And yet, several cities have already tried to prohibit faith-based child welfare providers from placing children in loving homes. I will not rest until that injustice is remedied.

Support For Nonprofits at a Crucial Time
As we recover from the pandemic, our nonprofits, charities, and houses of worship are playing crucial roles in serving communities and individuals who desperately need hope. At the same time, many of these organizations are struggling to survive the economic shutdowns of the past year. If they are to continue being the hands and feet of those in need, nonprofits need support now more than ever.
That’s why I introduced the Universal Pandemic Response and Recovery Act, along with colleagues on both sides of the aisle. This bill will expand and extend the current charitable giving deduction, incentivizing support from folks across the country who want to help these organizations give back. You can read more about the bill and its supporters here.
My faith in God continues to provide hope and assurance each day, especially in the midst of difficult circumstances. So, as we continue navigating the unprecedented challenges facing us today, know that you can count on me to ensure that Americans of all religious backgrounds are able to freely live out their convictions, unimpeded by the government.
Sincerely,
