Thank you for subscribing to my newsletter on taxes and regulation, where I’ll give you an update on what I’m doing to keep the Biden administration in check and keep them accountable to you—the taxpayers.

In less than four months, this new administration has already outlined plans for more than $7 trillion in new spending and proposed $3.4 trillion in tax hikes on job creators, workers, small businesses, and family farms. 

Here’s the breakdown: $1.9 trillion on a “COVID relief” package that wasn’t about COVID, $2.7 trillion on his American Jobs Plan that isn’t about getting people back to work, and $2.5 trillion on his American Families Plan that is just a tax on families across the country. Don’t let the names fool you, each one of these plans is a Trojan Horse for the Left’s progressive policies.

In short, this is the largest tax hike in half a century.

Defending Your Tax Dollars

It goes without saying that South Carolinians know best how to use their own money, and our state shouldn’t be penalized for its responsible fiscal policy by the Biden administration. That’s why I introduced the State Fiscal Flexibility Act, which would eliminate a harmful Democrat provision that prevents states from cutting taxes if they accepted relief funds.

Biden is Paying People not to Work

To paraphrase President Reagan: The best social program is a job. But it’s clear based off of the latest jobs report that Biden’s economic plan is paying people not to get back to work. Thousands of small businesses across the country have reopened and are struggling to staff up because of Biden’s big government mandate. South Carolina is leading the way in rejecting the Democrats’ supplemental unemployment benefits, and I recently introduced the Get Americans Back to Work Act to ensure all states do the same. 

Protecting American Intellectual Property

The United States has already pledged more money than any other country toward global vaccine efforts. President Biden’s willingness to cave to the World Trade Organization instead of protecting American intellectual property—one of our most valuable assets—from getting into the hands of bad actors is concerning.

Releasing our IP ensures that China will benefit off the hard work and innovation of American workers and will also ensure our next vaccine takes longer to develop.
