Dear Friend,
Welcome back to my Week in Review newsletter. Please remember to follow me on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, and YouTube for regular updates on how I am serving the people of South Carolina!
Stay Alert & Be Prepared
As tropical storm Nicole approaches from the south, I want to ensure that you are taking the necessary precautions to keep you and your loved ones safe. After initially hitting Florida as a Category 1 hurricane, Nicole has weakened to a tropical storm and still is a threat to parts of South Carolina.
While the storm’s intensity is still uncertain, we could experience periods of heavy rain, gusty winds, tornadoes, and storm surge. Please follow updates from your local advisories and adhere to their guidelines.
The South Carolina Emergency Management Division recommends you follow the steps below during the storm:
- Stay tuned to local television and radio stations for emergency information.
- South Carolina residents and visitors in potentially vulnerable areas should prepare their personal emergency plans and consider possible actions to take if the storm threatens the state.
- The SC Emergency Manager mobile app (in the App Store and on Google Play) is available to build a personal emergency plan.
- Residents can use Hurricane.SC, an interactive hurricane guide, to review their safety plans.

Spilling the #SCSweetTea on Our Veterans
This week, it only feels right to spill the #SCSweetTea on our nation’s veterans. They say there is no place like home, which is why over 390,000 veterans are calling the Palmetto state home! Being a native Charlestonian, I understand why Charleston has been named the best place for veterans transitioning out of the military!
