Dear Friend,

Welcome back to my Week in Review newsletter. Please remember to follow me on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, and YouTube for regular updates on how I am serving the people of South Carolina!

This week, I focused on holding the Biden administration accountable to American taxpayers and our allies worldwide. President Biden has slapped hardworking Americans with a $1 trillion bill for his student loan transfer scheme. I also had the opportunity to question Secretary of State Antony Blinken about the administration’s weakness on the world stage.

I want to take a moment to honor the sacrifices of the brave servicemen and women who gave their lives for our freedom. This weekend, folks around the nation will come together for Memorial Day barbecues and celebrations; as we gather, I hope we remember the countless sacrifices that have allowed us to live in the greatest country on God’s green earth!

The Week in Review

It’s Time to Stop Robbing Peter to Pay Paul.

This week, President Biden continued his illegal student loan transfer scheme by “forgiving” $147 billion, bringing the total student loan debt transferred to taxpayers to as much as $1 trillion. This administration continues to ignore congressional Republicans' warnings against regressive economic policies and defy the Supreme Court’s rulings that they don’t have the power to unilaterally forgive student loans.

I teamed up with Senator Bill Cassidy, Congresswoman Virginia Foxx, and 128 of our congressional colleagues in demanding that Education Secretary Cardona withdraw this scheme immediately.

It is time to show strength.

Everywhere I look, the world seems to be on fire, in no small part because of the Biden administration. China is staring across the Taiwan Strait, the Kremlin is setting its sights further west, and Iran has come out of the shadows to attack our strongest ally in the Middle East, Israel.

During this week’s Senate Committee on Foreign Relations hearing, I pressed Secretary of State Antony Blinken on the Biden administration’s withholding of critical munitions from Israel, their refusal to fully enforce economic sanctions against Iran, and their overall posture of weakness toward America’s adversaries.

In the News

Critics slam UN after it lowers flag to half-staff in honor of 'mass murderer' Iranian president

The United Nations flag was lowered to half-staff Tuesday in honor of the late Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi, who died in a helicopter crash Monday.

Raisi, nicknamed the "Butcher of Tehran" for his oversight of mass executions of political prisoners in 1988, died along with Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian and other Iranian officials who were in the helicopter when it crashed in a mountainous region to the country's northwest. Several U.N. member nations have offered condolences to the Iranian regime – a show of support for the state sponsor of terror that has outraged human rights activists and Iran hawks.

Sen. Tim Scott, R-S.C., who sits on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, told Fox News Digital the honors given to Raisi were an insult to the Iranian people.

"The U.N. and the Biden administration should honor the victims of the Iranian regime, not the Butcher of Tehran. Tributes to Raisi are a slap in the face to all those who suffered under his reign," Scott said.
