July 19, 2024

Dear Friend,

Welcome back to my Week in Review newsletter. Please remember to follow me on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, and YouTube for regular updates on how I am serving the people of South Carolina!

This week, I stood alongside my South Carolina colleagues in the effort to protect life in our state. I also joined Senate colleagues from both sides of the aisle in raising awareness for a devastating form of cancer.

“Happy are people who make peace, because they will be called God’s children.”

– Matthew 5:9

The Week in Review

Standing Up for Life

I led an amicus brief in the Kerr v. Planned Parenthood case to support our state’s conclusion that Planned Parenthood doesn’t qualify for Medicaid funding. Using taxpayer dollars to fund abortion services undermines the intent of the program and the law. I'm proud to join my South Carolina colleagues in pushing back on this attempted overreach in our state.

It’s critical that we continue to promote medical innovation and research so we can eradicate this terrible disease and put an end to the suffering that comes with it.
