Creating Investment Opportunities

For too many in communities like the one that I grew up in, investing in a local venture or raising capital to grow a business seems out of reach. That’s why I led legislation to create economic opportunity and provide Americans with the resources necessary to build a better future for their families. My Empowering Main Street in America Act will improve access to capital for entrepreneurs and create new avenues for hardworking Americans to invest in their communities. The opportunity to invest your hard-earned money should not be limited just to the wealthy.

Holding the Administration Accountable

The rollout of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) for the 2024-2025 academic year encountered significant problems, ultimately disrupting the financial aid process. Higher education has been a key in many Americans’ path to their American Dream, and this failed rollout by the Biden-Harris administration is putting the futures of thousands of Americans in jeopardy. I joined colleagues in introducing a resolution to hold the administration accountable and take the necessary steps to right the wrongs for next year. I am committed to fighting for the best interest of American students and families.

Safeguarding Our Supply Chains

The United States should never give the Chinese Communist Party the opportunity to compromise our nation by depending on China for crucial components to our federal infrastructure. As a member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, I’ve introduced legislation prohibiting the U.S. Department of State from procuring batteries produced by certain PRC-linked companies. The Blocking Bad Batteries Act is proactive, commonsense legislation that safeguards our supply chains and national security interests.

Fox News: Senate unanimously passes bill bolstering presidential candidates’ Secret Service protection

In the weeks following the nearly back-to-back assassination attempts against former President Donald Trump, the Senate unanimously passed bipartisan legislation that would boost Secret Service protection to major presidential candidates.

Sen. Tim Scott (R-S.C.) and Sen. Rick Scott (R-Fla.) introduced the Protect Our President Act, which will enhance U.S. Secret Service (USSS) protection for presidential nominees to the same level currently provided for a sitting president. However, a nominee is free to decline this. 

It would additionally extend that presidential-level protection to vice presidential nominees, in this case to Sen. JD Vance, R-Ohio, and Gov. Tim Walz, D-Minn.
