SC STATE FAIR SEASON

October 16, 2026

Dear Friend,

Welcome back to my Week in Review newsletter. Please remember to follow me on Facebook, X, Instagram, LinkedIn, and YouTube for regular updates on how I am serving the people of South Carolina!

The South Carolina State Fair celebrates so much of what makes South Carolina special, from our rich agricultural history and local arts to delicious food and southern hospitality. I could not be prouder of the fair for creating memories for generations of South Carolinians but also for the opportunities it has provided by blessing students across our state with nearly $6.5 million in scholarships since 1997. I hope everyone has a safe and wonderful time enjoying this beloved tradition and celebrating what makes the Palmetto State so great!

“For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.”

The Week in Review

Supporting Military Families

South Carolina is blessed to be home to thousands of our nation’s heroes, and they and their families who have sacrificed alongside them have earned the best possible support as they transition to civilian life. I introduced the BRIDGE Act to empower local communities to provide military families with tailored assistance, because the best solutions are often built closest to home. This legislation would establish a pilot program providing personalized, community-based assistance, including employment resources, benefits guidance, and peer support. By connecting families with the tools and resources they need, we can help make the transition to civilian life smoother and set them up for long-term success.

TEAM SCOTT ACROSS SC

Members of Team Scott had the opportunity to visit Joint Base Lindsey Graham in North Charleston and learn more about the important work being done to support our nation’s military readiness and national security. During the visit, members of my team gained valuable insight into the base’s operations and the men and women who serve our country with immense courage. We are grateful for their service and I remain committed to supporting South Carolina’s military community and their families!

Sharing the #SCSweetTea

The town of Greeleyville has broken ground on a new project! The Coleman-Easler-Snow Hill Water Improvements Project will expand access to clean, reliable drinking water for approximately 550 residents in Williamsburg County. The project will bring nearly 20 miles of new waterlines, water storage, and fire hydrants to the community. Members of Team Scott joined local leaders and USDA Rural Development officials to celebrate this exciting milestone. “Clean, reliable drinking water is the key to healthy and resilient communities,” USDA Rural Development South Carolina State Director Jacob French said. “This project shows what can be accomplished when USDA and local leaders work together to deliver critical infrastructure to the people who need it most.” Thanks to years of collaboration, families in this rural South Carolina community will soon have greater access to an essential resource!

By: Colin Russell

Sen. Tim Scott and Sen. Alex Padilla, D-Calif., have introduced bipartisan legislation that would create a pilot program to assist service members and their families as they transition from military to civilian life.

The Building Readiness and Integration for Dependents Going to Civilian Environments, or BRIDGE Act of 2026, would establish a three-year Department of Defense pilot program at four military installations to provide community-based support and transition services.

The program would offer resources including peer support, spouse employment assistance, skills training, benefits navigation and individualized transition plans for service members within one year of separation and their families. […]

The bill has received endorsements from several veterans and military family organizations, including Blue Star Families, the Wounded Warrior Project, the American Legion, the National Military Family Association, the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors.
