Senator Romney introduced several amendments to the FY 2020 NDAA this week to address key Utah and national security priorities. Amendments included legislation to settle an important water rights claim for Navajos living in Utah, to give rural Utahns a voice in land management, and a measure to improve access to Hill Air Force Base. Additional amendments aimed to confront the threat China poses to U.S. national security and intellectual property, as well as make the E-Verify program permanent.

This week, Senator Romney presented her with the Congressional Award Foundation’s Horizon Award.



The Congressional Award Gold Medal recognizes initiative, service, and achievement in young people. This year, five Utah students were awarded the Gold Medal. Senator Romney met two of the recipients, Kate and Kimberly Drennan of Sandy, when they stopped by the office.





The cost of prescription drugs is an area where Congress has an opportunity to help American consumers. During a Senate Health, Education, Labor & Pensions Committee hearing, Senator Romney urged his colleagues to support his legislation with Senator Braun (R-IN) to bring transparency to drug pricing and reduce out-of-pocket costs.





Senator Romney welcomed a group of high school students from rural Utah while they were on a school trip to Washington—their first time in the nation's capital.





This week, Senator Romney chaired a Senate Foreign Relations Committee hearing to consider the nominations of three individuals for U.S. ambassadorships to Libya, Egypt, and the United Arab Emirates. The full hearing can be viewed here.
