As Democrats in Washington continued their chaotic, scrambled efforts to put together a reckless spending bill, Senator Romney remained focused on two of his top priorities: the troubling state of our national debt and the threat China poses to the global order. He discussed strategies to combat China’s nefarious actions with several of the President’s nominees, including the nominee to be U.S. Ambassador to China. Senator Romney also met with Utah and national leaders to discuss the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, bipartisan legislation the Senator helped negotiate to improve Utah’s roads, bridges, and water systems. Whether it’s $3.5 trillion, $2 trillion, or even $1 trillion, Democrats are planning on spending an astronomical amount of money on President Biden’s social agenda.

China's ambition is clear: They seek to replace the U.S. as the global superpower. The Chinese Communist Party's censorship of media, rampant IP theft, oppression of religious and minority groups, and genocide of the Uyghurs make the prospect of a global order led by China deeply troubling.

During an exchange with the nominee to serve as U.S. Ambassador to China, Ambassador Nicholas Burns, Senator Romney highlighted China’s malicious ambitions and stressed the importance of partnering with our allies to persuade the CCP to change its current course.

American families are not tax cheats, and should not be assumed guilty until proven innocent. Democrats are putting forth a proposal to give the IRS access to transaction information of virtually every American. Senator Romney joined his Republican colleagues in introducing the Prohibiting IRS Financial Surveillance Act, a bill to prevent this proposal. Learn more here.

By sharing her personal story of abuse in a treatment facility as a child, Paris Hilton has made substantial efforts on reforming Utah’s residential treatment centers for troubled teens. Senator Romney met with Hilton during her visit to Capitol Hill, where she’s continuing her work at the federal level.

China is engaging in alarming and aggressive behavior towards democratic nations, especially Taiwan. The United States must make clear the economic consequences to China if they attempt to interfere with Taiwan’s sovereignty.
