Democrats’ tax-and-spend proposal doesn't address the real challenges facing Americans, like empty shelves and rising prices. Instead of focusing on solving these issues, Washington Democrats are fixated on increasing taxes and expanding the government’s role in our daily lives.
Senator Romney joined Special Report with Bret Baier to discuss how the Democrats’ proposal would further harm our economy and is simply out of touch with Americans’ needs.
Last month, Senator Romney joined Senator Bennet (D-CO) on a Colorado River trip focused on solutions to building climate resilience in the west. This week, 60 Minutes aired a documentary which unfairly blamed St. George for the shrinking water volume in the Colorado River, even as other western states with far greater populations use the same water system. Senator Romney pushed back on their hit piece, saying: “60 Minutes was right to raise the alarm over the shrinking Colorado River. Criticism of St. George, however, with 1/100th the population of Los Angeles was misguided. New strategies, not blame, are needed. Utah will continue to be a good partner in this effort.”

The Afghanistan withdrawal was a sad day in our history, and many remain concerned with the large number of the United States’ partners that are still in the country. Senator Romney pressed Brian McKeon, Deputy Secretary of State for Management and Resources, on the Administration’s efforts to help our friends and partners still stuck in Afghanistan.
Senator Romney also sought assurances from the Administration on their approach to China's militant ambitions toward Taiwan, which should concern free nations around the world. Not only would it jeopardize the freedom of Taiwan’s people, but it would pose a significant threat to the global order.
It is outrageous that China gets to host the Olympics while the Chinese Communist Party commits genocide against the Uyghur people. At the same time, it's unfair to ask American athletes to surrender their dream. Senator Romney led a bipartisan group of senators in introducing an amendment that would impose a diplomatic boycott of the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing.

Utah is facing an historic drought, which especially affects our rural communities. The bipartisan infrastructure bill would provide funding for conservation and development programs which would help mitigate burdens caused by the drought and shore up Utah's water resilience. Senator Romney met with several rural chambers of commerce to further discuss the details of the bipartisan infrastructure bill.
Russia's actions in the Black Sea region–from invading Ukraine and Georgia to spreading deceitful disinformation–hurts our NATO allies. During a Senate Foreign Relations subcommittee hearing, Senator Romney raised concerns about Turkey's recent actions and encouraged the country to reconsider its relationship with the Russians.
Improving our nation's infrastructure will require a reliable supply of construction equipment and a strong workforce. Senator Romney met with Utah members of Associated Equipment Distributors to discuss how they can prepare for future infrastructure needs and better serve Utah's businesses.
Strong technical education is critical to keeping up with Utah's booming economy and labor demands. Senator Romney sat down with Aaron Weight, President of Uintah Basin Technical College, to discuss their efforts to train our rising workforce and promote economic development in the region.
After many years of actor Jason Sudeikis playing Senator Romney on Saturday Night Live, the Senator decided it was finally time to return the favor. He dressed up as Ted Lasso, who is played by Sudeikis in the popular sitcom on Apple TV+ for Halloween to provide a moment of levity for his colleagues and staff. Senator Romney also attended the Senate’s annual “bipawtisan” Halloween dog party, hosted by Senator Tillis (R-NC) with his special guest Pierre Doglecto!
