Sen. Rick Scott: Congress Should Immediately Pass Bipartisan, Bicameral American Security Drone Act

Last week, Rep. Mike Gallagher and colleagues introduced the House companion to Senator Rick Scott’s bipartisan American Security Drone Act of 2019 in the House of Representatives. The American Security Drone Act prohibits the U.S. Government from purchasing drones manufactured in countries identified as national security threats, like Iran and China.

Senator Rick Scott said, “We have to get serious about the national security threat we face from Communist China, who is STEALING our technology and intellectual property. Yet, the U.S. Government continues to buy critical technology, like drones, from Chinese companies backed by their Communist government. We cannot allow this, and Congress should immediately pass the American Security Drone Act.” Read more from Representative Gallagher’s office HERE.

Sen. Rick Scott: Michael Bloomberg’s Support of President Xi Puts Profits Over Human Rights

Senator Rick Scott released the following statement after Michael Bloomberg ignored Senator Scott’s request to change the location of the New Economy Forum, which was set to take place in Communist China this week.

Senator Rick Scott said, “President Xi continues to violate human rights and go back on every commitment he has made to the United States. How can someone who is running for President think it is acceptable to host a large scale event in Communist China? As Michael Bloomberg makes his case to the American people, he will have to answer for his support of a Communist government and his decision to put profits over human rights.” Read more HERE.

Senator Rick Scott said, “I’m proud the Senate voted to confirm Justice Robert Luck to serve on the Eleventh U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals. Justice Luck is a native Floridian who has dedicated himself to a career in public service. As Governor, I had the distinct pleasure to appoint Justice Luck to the bench twice – first to the Miami-Dade circuit court in 2013, and later to Florida’s Third District Court of Appeal in 2017. I’m confident Justice Luck will continue to serve our state and nation well, and I am honored to support his confirmation to the federal bench.”

Senator Scott is a proud co-sponsor of the Hong Kong Human Rights and Democracy Act, and won’t stop fighting until America’s economic and political future — and the freedom of nations across the globe — is secure from the threat of Chinese influence.

Senator Rick Scott’s Prescription Drug Price Reporting Act Introduced in the House

This week, Congressman Dave Joyce introduced the companion bill to Senator Rick Scott’s Prescription Drug Price Reporting Act in the House of Representatives. The Prescription Drug Price Reporting Act will create a consumer-friendly database of prescription drug prices, which will empower American families to make informed healthcare choices.

Senator Rick Scott said, “There’s no reason patients shouldn’t know exactly what their prescription drugs cost before they get to the pharmacy. The Prescription Drug Price Reporting Act gives patients the information they need to make informed decisions for themselves and their families. Even in the hyper-partisan, dysfunctional world of Washington, D.C., creating more transparency in the healthcare system is something we must get done now to help families across our nation.”
