Quick Links

  • Due to continued consolidation, we’ve seen the livestock market become less competitive and increasingly troublesome for family farmers.  I’ve introduced legislation to address this problem.
  • Financial exploitation is the most widespread form of elder abuse. This is unacceptable. I’m seeking answers on what can be done to prevent these crimes.
  • Law enforcement officers put their lives on the line to keep our communities safe. I was pleased that the Senate unanimously passed a resolution that I introduced alongside three other senators to honor the life and legacy of native Iowan, Officer Kerrie Orozco, of the Omaha Police Department.
  • The Senate passed my amendment boosting wind energy research. Wind energy is a great success in Iowa and nationwide.
  • TV host Dr. Phil briefed staff on the link between opioid abuse and foster care. I helped with the event as co-chair of the Caucus on Foster Youth.
  • We need to keep up with ever-changing drug cartels. The House and the Senate approved a bipartisan bill I coauthored that will combat transnational drug trafficking.
  • It's an exciting time for the Class of 2016. Find out what I'm doing to help students pay down their student debt upon graduation.
