It is becoming increasingly difficult, and oftentimes too costly, for parents to have children. To better support families, Senator Romney introduced the Family Security Act 2.0, which would streamline antiquated federal policies into a monthly benefit starting before the birth of a child. Supported by Senator Burr (R-NC) and Senator Daines (R-MT), Romney’s plan is fully paid for by consolidating existing federal spending, so it wouldn’t worsen inflation or add to the national debt.
In a speech at the American Enterprise Institute (AEI), Romney outlined his vision for how public policy can better support American families. He then sat down with AEI President Robert Doar to discuss the Family Security Act 2.0.

Throughout the course of the COVID-19 pandemic, we have seen how the United States’ public health data reporting has failed to deliver critical and comprehensive information to the American people in order to respond to the pandemic. We have again seen these shortcomings as monkeypox has started to spread around the country.These failures show the need for reliable, real time data during days of blue-skies so we can better prepare for and potentially prevent major outbreaks.
Senator Romney proposed a new data agency to improve access to impartial and objective public health data that would bolster our infectious disease intelligence and preparedness. The Center for Public Health Data (CPHD) would aggregate this existing data to make it more accessible in real time.

The rest of the country is now understanding the widespread repercussions of a diminished Great Salt Lake. We must be willing to do whatever is necessary to make sure we preserve this iconic body of water. The Senate passed the Great Salt Lake Recovery Act, legislation introduced by Senator Romney to study historic drought conditions and protect the long-term health of the Great Salt Lake in Utah.
Senator Romney, along with Representatives Chris Stewart, Burgess Owens, and John Curtis, urged the House to take it up so the bill can get to the President’s desk and signed into law without delay.
