I
spoke
about
the
Supreme
Court
confirmation
process
and
President
Trump's
Supreme
Court
nominee
Neil
Gorsuch on
Special
Report
with
Bret
Baier.
Q&A:
Tax
Reform
Q.
Will
the
federal
tax
code
finally
receive
a
long
overdue
overhaul?
Q.
What
about
estate
tax
reform?
Q.
What
other
reforms
are
on
the
table?

I
introduced
legislation
to
reduce
frivolous
lawsuits
that
bog
down
the
United
States
legal
system
and
cost
businesses
billions
of
dollars
every
year. The
bill
helps
to
rebalance
the
scales
of
justice
by
weeding
our
legal
system
of
frivolous
claims
by
deterring
abusive
and
meritless
practices.
On
Tuesday
evening,
I
went
to
the
White
House
to
watch
President
Trump
announce
his
nomination
of
Judge
Neil
Gorsuch
to
the
Supreme
Court
of
the
United
States.
Judge
Gorsuch
is universally
respected
across
the
ideological
spectrum
as
a
mainstream
judge
who
applies
the
law
without
regard
to
person
or
his
own
preferences.
I
gave
a
few
more
thoughts
on
this
nomination
and
the
confirmation
process
in
a
brief
video.
On
Wednesday,
I
sent
a
letter
to
the
White
House
General
Counsel
urging
the
new
administration
to
encourage
transparency
by
protecting
whistleblowers
throughout
the
federal
government.
I
have
long
advocated
for
protecting
whistleblowers
because
of
their
critical
role
in
rooting
out
waste,
fraud,
abuse
and
mismanagement.
The
Senate
Finance
Committee
has
a
long
tradition
of
collegiality
and
bipartisanship,
but
I
was
disappointed
this
week when
my
Democrat
colleagues
boycotted
two
meetings
in
order
to
deny
votes
on
two
of
the
President's
cabinet
nominees.
I
am
renewing
my
call
for
declassification
of
the
refugee
deal
made
between
the
Obama
administration
and
Australia
to
transfer
to
the
United
States
nearly
1,300
people
who
unsuccessfully
attempted
to
enter
Australia
as
refugees.
I
first
asked
for
details
about
this
deal
back
in
November
to
no
avail.
I
introduced
a
joint
resolution
of
disapproval
to
begin
the
process
of
reversing
an
Obama
administration
regulation
that
allows
the
Social
Security
Administration
to
report
citizens
receiving
disability
benefits
to
the
national
gun
ban
list
without
due
process.
