Dear
Friend,
Confirming
Colorado's
Neil
Gorsuch
Last
week,
I
had
the
honor
to
introduce
Judge
Neil
Gorsuch
to
the
Senate
Judiciary
Committee
at
the
outset
of
his
Supreme
Court
confirmation
hearing.
Judge
Gorsuch
is
a
mainstream
jurist
who
will
serve
the
American
people
well.

Moving
Bureau
of
Land
Management
Headquarters
to
the
West
99%
of
the
public
land
the
Bureau
of
Land
Management
(BLM)
manages
is
west
of
the
Mississippi
River
so
I’m
calling
for
a
relocation
of
the
BLM’s
headquarters
to
the
West.
We
have
too
many
heavy-handed
regulations
out
of
Washington,
D.C.
that
don’t
make
sense
for
our
Western
way
of
life.

Helping
Farmers
and
Ranchers
Who
Need
Federal
Disaster
Relief
Assistance
As
someone
who
lives
on
the
Eastern
Plains,
I
will
never
forget
our
farmers
and
ranchers
and
we
must
continue
to
support
them
in
good
times
and
in
bad.
While
Coloradans
in
Northeast
Colorado
continue
to
recover
from
the
devastating
fires,
I
wanted
to
remind
those
who
have
been
affected
to
contact
my
office
for
assistance.
We
will
support
our
farmers
and
ranchers
as
they
navigate
the
federal
bureaucracy
and
help
them
through
this
difficult
time.

Advocating
for
Colorado
Counties
Last
week,
I
joined
33
of
my
Senate
colleagues
to
send
a
letter
to
Senate
Appropriations
Committee
Chairman
Thad
Cochran
(R-MI)
and
Vice
Chairman
Patrick
Leahy
(D-VT)
urging
the
full
funding
of
the
Payments
in
Lieu
of
Taxes
(PILT)
program.
In
the
letter,
we
stated,
"PILT
provides
critical
resources
to
nearly
1,900
counties
across
49
states
to
offset
lost
property
tax
revenue
due
to
the
presence
of
tax-exempt
federal
lands
within
their
jurisdictions.
...We
look
forward
to
working
with
you
to
resolve
this
pressing
issue
facing
our
communities
by
fully
funding
PILT
in
FY
2018
and
ensuring
long-term
predictable
funding
for
this
important
program."

NASA
Provisions
Signed
into
Law
President
Trump
signed
the
NASA
Transition
Authorization
Act
into
law
last
week,
which
included
two
provisions
I
authored:
an
amendment
requiring
NASA
to
develop
a
plan
to
reach
Mars
that
includes
specific
timelines
and
benchmarks,
and
an
amendment
that
authorizes
NASA
to
consider
satellite
servicing
options
for
future
programs,
which
encourages
NASA
to
examine
the
possibility
of
servicing
and
refurbishing
existing
satellites
to
extend
their
lifespan
and
capabilities.
Colorado’s
aerospace
industry
is
a
major
economic
driver
and
employs
thousands
of
Coloradans
throughout
the
Centennial
state.
I’m
thrilled
this
legislation
was
signed
into
law
that
requires
NASA
to
develop
a
timeline
for
a
manned
mission
to
Mars,
and
I
look
forward
to
seeing
Coloradans
contribute
to
the
mission’s
ultimate
success.
