1 BIG THING: WELCOMING OVER $1.1 BILLION IN CO RURAL ENERGY FUNDING

Image

Looking back: In 2022, I helped secure nearly $13 billion in the Inflation Reduction Act to support rural clean energy initiatives through the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

This week: I welcomed more than $1.16 billion for providers in Colorado to help rural energy and utility providers bring affordable, reliable clean energy to their communities.

What I believe: Rural electric cooperatives are central to our country’s ability to transition to a clean energy economy – these grants will help them modernize to lower energy costs for families, farms, ranches and small businesses, and to create jobs in rural communities. I’m so grateful our state is benefiting from this incredible nationwide investment.

2. VISITING SOUTHERN COLORADO

Image

Visiting Southern Colorado Farms in Center

What I did: This week, I traveled throughout the San Luis Valley and Gunnison County. From touring the incredible Fort Garland Museum to visiting Western Colorado University, I enjoyed seeing firsthand how Coloradans are using federal investments to better their communities.

One highlight: In Center, I visited Southern Colorado Farms to hear from farmers and farm workers harvesting this year's lettuce crop. During my visit, we discussed the importance of cutting burdensome red tape for our farmers and of passing my Affordable and Secure Food Act to address our broken immigration system.

What’s next: My favorite part of my job is traveling throughout Colorado to speak with constituents about issues that matter to them. I look forward to continuing our work to make our state the best place to live and work for every Coloradan.

3. IMPROVING COLORADO’S AIRPORTS

Image

What happened: I welcomed nearly $100 million from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to improve airport infrastructure across the state. From Grand Junction to Colorado Springs, this Bipartisan Infrastructure Law funding will help our airports invest in urgently-needed safety and capacity upgrades.

What I believe: Colorado’s regional and municipal airports connect communities across our state and support local economic development. I’m glad the FAA is supporting our airports as they work to meet Colorado’s changing needs.
