Dear
Friend,
Touring
the
Western
Slope
Over
the
April
state
work
period,
I
spent
time
on
the
Western
Slope
meeting
with
Coloradans
to
hear
their
concerns.
Whether
it’s
healthcare
reform,
public
lands
issues,
or
rural
economic
development,
it
is
important
for
me
to
listen
to
my
constituents
and
understand
how
policy
created
in
Washington affects their
everyday
lives.
I
always
say
that
Washington
cannot
operate
in
a
vacuum
and
I
look
forward
to
taking
everything
I
have
heard
over
the
past
two
weeks
into
account
as
I
work
toward
solutions
that
will
benefit
Coloradans.
We
have
to
make
sure
the
Western
Slope
has
that
loud,
strong
voice
it
deserves.
I
toured
the
Rifle-Garfield
County
Airport
and
met
with
airport
officials to
discuss
the
importance
of
local
airports
to
Western
Colorado
and
learn
more
about
the
new technologies
the
airport
is
utilizing
to
fight
fires
across
the
state.
I
was
fortunate
to visit
Colorado
Mountain
College
(CMC)
in
Rifle
and
hosted
a
roundtable
with
CMC
leadership
and
area
school
superintendents
where
we
discussed
issues
facing
rural
communities.
I
also
met
with
CMC
students
and
toured
the
campus
to
see
some
of
the
unique
programs
offered
by
the
college.
Additionally, I
met
with
the
Fruita
City
Council and
toured
Colorado
State
University’s
Western
Colorado
Research
Center
where
I
held
a
roundtable
with
members
of
the
Western Colorado
Cattlemen’s
Association. The
Cattlemen
and
I
discussed
moving
the
Bureau
of
Land
Management
headquarters
to
Grand
Junction,
as
well
as
reducing
burdensome
regulations
that
harm
Colorado’s
farmers
and
ranchers.

Meeting
with
Constituents
Along
the
Front
Range
One
of
my
stops
along
the
Front
Range
included
a
visit
to
the Boulder
Jewish
Community
Center
(JCC). The
Jewish
community
in
Boulder
and
across
the
state
have
been
extremely
strong
and
resilient
over
these
last
few
months.
I
appreciated
the
opportunity
to
visit
with
many
of
the
people
that
help
make
Boulder
JCC
such
an
important
place
for
all
ages
in
our
area,
and
to
reiterate
my
full
support
in
ensuring
that
the
despicable
acts
of
racism
and
threats
of
violence
they
have
faced
will
never
be
tolerated.
We
must
all
work
together
to
stop
anti-Semitism
and
any
other
act
of
intolerance
against
a
religious
group. Read

my
visit

Colorado
Statesman.
I
enjoyed
touring
two
Colorado
businesses
--
ULA
and
CoBank
--
where
I
had
the
opportunity
to
meet
with
hundreds
of
employees
and
answer
their
questions
on
a
wide
range
of
issues.
At
Colorado
State
University's Powerhouse
Energy
Campus
in
Fort
Collins,
I
met
with President
Tony
Frank
to
learn
more
about
CSU's
cutting-edge
energy
research. I’m
always
happy
to
see
all
of
the
great
things
coming
out
of
my
alma
mater.
I
also
traveled
to
Colorado
Springs
and
visited
the
United
States
Air
Force
Academy
to
learn
more
about
the
FalconSAT
program,
the
Academy's
small
satellite
engineering
program.
