Dear
Friend,
Bringing
Greater
Accountability
to
the
VA
Last
week,
I
voted
for
the
Department
of
Veterans
Affairs
Accountability
and
Whistleblower
Protection
Act
of
2017.
This
legislation
makes
it
easier
for
the
Department
of
Veterans
Affairs
(VA)
to
discipline,
including
firing,
employees
who
do
not
provide
the
proper
care
to
our
veterans
and
creates
an
office
within
the
agency
specifically
designed
to
receive
whistleblower
tips.
Our
veterans
have
given
everything
for
our
country
and
they
should
always
have
access
to
the
best
possible
care
we
can
offer.
The
vast
majority
of
VA
employees
are
hardworking
people
that
are
committed
to
take
care
of
our
veterans
with
the
respect
they
deserve.
However,
we
have
heard
far
too
many
stories
about
a
few
bad
employees
that
have
mistreated
our
heroes
and
provided
inferior
levels
of
care.
This
bipartisan
legislation
holds
them
accountable
by
allowing
the
Secretary
the
discretion
to
reprimand
or
remove
bad
employees
from
the
VA,
and
provides
another
needed
step
in
cleaning
up
the
VA
to
ensure
our
veterans
always
have
the
highest
levels
of
care
available.
Colorado
Native
Nominated
to
Serve
on
the
Tenth
Circuit
Court
of
Appeals
Last
week,
President
Trump
nominated
Colorado
native,
Allison
Eid,
to
serve
on
the
Tenth
Circuit
Court
of
Appeals.
I
have
known
Allison
since
my
days
as
a
student
at
the
University
of
Colorado
Law
School
and
have
been
extremely
impressed
with
her
service
on
Colorado’s
Supreme
Court.
Whether
she
was
clerking
for
Justice
Clarence
Thomas,
teaching
at
CU
Law,
arguing
cases
as
Colorado’s
Solicitor
General,
or
writing
opinions
as
a
member
of
the
state’s
Supreme
Court,
she
has
always
been
an
ardent
defender
of
the
Constitution
and
committed
to
upholding
the
rule
of
law.
I
look
forward
to
supporting
Allison
throughout
her
confirmation
process.

David
Bernhardt
was
approved
by
the
Energy

Natural

As
a

Coloradan
from
Rifle,
David
has
a
deep
understanding
of
Western
land
issues,
and
I’m

I

two

those

Colorado!
I
want
to congratulate
Lieutenant

will
continue
to
support
Colorado’s
aerospace
industry.
