1 BIG THING: REFLECTING ON THREE YEARS OF THE BIPARTISAN INFRASTRUCTURE LAW

Image

What’s happened: This week marked three years since President Biden signed the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law – the largest investment in American infrastructure since President Eisenhower. Since 2021, over $7.2 billion has been awarded to more than 1,000 Colorado projects, helping our state make critical improvements to everything from roads to airports to broadband access.

Some highlights: Colorado is already benefiting from these historic investments, including $826 million to increase broadband access, equity, and deployment, $250 million to improve clean drinking water access through the Arkansas Valley Conduit, and $100 million for the Floyd Hill I-70 improvement project.

What I believe: There is no state better positioned than Colorado to benefit from these investments and lead the rest of the country into the 21st century. In addition to improving Colorado’s infrastructure, this funding is boosting our economy and will help create over 40,000 jobs statewide. This is what it looks like to invest in America again.

2. HONORING COLORADO’S MILITARY FAMILIES

Image

What’s happening: November is Military Family Month, an opportunity to recognize the many contributions of U.S. service members’ families and thank them for the sacrifices they make to support those who answered the call.

What I believe: Colorado is home to tens of thousands of military families who face unique challenges, including frequent changes to where they live and work. I am committed to ensuring Colorado’s military families have the care and resources they have earned.

4. IN THE NEWS THIS WEEK

  • Sunday, November 17 is National Warrior Call Day. This weekend, I hope Coloradans take a moment and reach out to returning service members and veterans and remind them that they’re not alone.
  • From guidance on benefits to mental health support, AARP offers valuable resources for veterans, active duty service members, and military families. Find resources and learn more here
  • This week, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services announced nearly $3.7 billion in funding to help lower heating costs for families in Colorado and nationwide this winter. I’m glad our state is benefiting from this important investment.
