Dear
Friend,
Remembering
9/11
We
will #NeverForget the
lives
that
we
lost
16
years
ago
on
September
11,
2001
and
we'll
continue
to
honor
their
memory.
Addressing
the
North
Korea
Threat
After
North
Korea's
most
recent
missile
launch
capable
of
reaching
Guam
and
their
sixth
nuclear
test
conducted
on
September
3rd,
the
international
community
needs
to
finally
join
together
in
completely
isolating
this
dangerous
regime.
North
Korea
should
be
immediately
kicked
out
of
the
United
Nations
and
under
the
leadership
of
the
United
States,
the
United
Nations
Security
Council
should
enact
a
new
resolution
that
imposes
a
full
economic
embargo
on
North
Korea
that
bans
all
of
Pyongyang's
economic
activities,
including
petroleum
resources,
except
for
limited
humanitarian
exceptions.
These
economic
tools
need
to
be
combined
with
robust
military
deterrent,
including
imposing
a
US-led
international
naval
blockade
of
North
Korea
in
order
to
ensure
a
full
enforcement
of
United
Nations
actions.
We
must
also
continue
frequent
show
of
force
exercises
by
the
United
States
and
our
partners
in
Seoul
and
Tokyo,
enhanced
missile
defense
activities,
and
assurance
of
extended
US
nuclear
deterrence
to
our
allies.
Kim
Jong
Un
must
know
that
any
serious
provocation
will
be
met
with
a
full
range
of
US
military
capabilities.
Securing
Internet
of
Things
(IoT)
Devices
I
joined CBS
Denver
last
week
to
discuss
my
bipartisan
Internet
of
Things
Cybersecurity
Improvement
Act
of
2017
that
would
require
IoT
devices
purchased
by
the
U.S.
government
to
meet
certain
minimum
security
requirements. The
Internet-of-Things,
the
term
used
to
describe
the
growing
network
of
Internet-connected
devices
and
sensors,
is
expected
to
include
over
20
billion
devices
by
2020.
While
these
devices
and
the
data
they
collect
and
transmit
present
enormous
benefits
to
consumers
and
industry,
the
relative
insecurity
of
many
devices
presents
enormous
challenges.
As
IoT
devices
continue
to
transform
our
society
and
add
countless
new
entry
points
into
our
networks,
we
need
to
make
sure
they
are
secure
from
malicious
cyber-attacks.
This
bipartisan,
commonsense
legislation
will
ensure
the
federal
government
leads
by
example
and
purchases
devices
that
meet
basic
requirements
to
prevent
hackers
from
penetrating
our
government
systems
without
halting
the
life-changing
innovations
that
continue
to
develop
in
the
IoT
space.
As
co-chairs
of
the
Senate
Cybersecurity
Caucus,
Senator
Warner
and
I
are
committed
to
advancing
our
nation’s
cybersecurity
defenses
and
this
marks
an
important
step
in
that
direction.
Be
sure
to
watch
the
CBS
Denver
story

Grand
Junction
Town
Hall
I
had
a
great
time
answering
questions
from
my
constituents
in
Grand
Junction
at
my
fifth
town
hall
this
year.
I
even had
the
opportunity
to
sit
down
with
the Colorado
Mesa
University
Criterion before
I
went
on
stage.
I
always
enjoy
fielding
questions
from
our
next
generation
of
reporters!
Socialized
Medicine
is
Not
the
Answer
to
Fix
our
Broken
Healthcare
System
The
Bernie
Sanders
socialized
medicine
plan
is
not
the
answer
to
fix
our
broken
healthcare
system. Year
after
year,
Coloradans
are
forced
to
reckon
with
rising
insurance
premiums
and
fewer
choices
and
anyone
who
thinks
a
government
takeover
of
our
healthcare
system
is
the
answer
is
not
serious
about
finding
real
solutions
for
the
American
people.
The
Obamacare
markets
have
proven
to
be
a
failure
in
states
across
the
country,
including
Colorado,
and
it
is
not
reasonable
to
think
more
government
is
the
solution.
I’m
concerned
that
if
we
are
already
struggling
to
afford
a
Medicare
program
that
our
seniors
rely
on,
a
Medicare-for-all
system
will
result
in
even
less
resources
for
the
seniors
who
the
program
was
originally
designed
to
protect.
I
will
continue
to
work
in
a
bipartisan
fashion
and
fight
for
market
reforms
that
will
increase
choices,
lower
costs,
and
result
in
affordable
health
insurance
for
Coloradans.
Advancing
Medical
Marijuana
Research
Last
week,
I introduced
the
Marijuana
Effective
Drug
Study
(MEDS)
Act
of
2017
to
improve
the
process
for
conducting
scientific
research
on
marijuana
as
a
safe
and
effective
medical
treatment.
Our
medical
community
continues
to
find
new
ways
medical
marijuana
can
help
patients
but
currently
there
are
too
many
barriers
that
are
holding
back
even
further
advancements
and
research.
This
legislation
is
simple.
It
will
make
it
easier
for
our
universities,
hospitals,
and
scientists
to
look
at
new
ways
that
medical
marijuana
can
be
used
for
treatment.

the
legislation
